How to Turn Your Website Into a Full Time, Virtual Sales Person
November 29th, 2009Who’s a better customer – someone who comes in and is already pre-sold on doing business with you, or someone you first have to qualify before you can sell to?
The answer is obvious. People who come pre-conditioned to buy from you are much easier to sell to. You just have to point them in the right direction, help them find what they want, then write up the purchase order.
Ideally, your website would help find those people who are best qualified and targeted to purchase from you, and then funnel them from the web into your phsyical store. In the real world, it rarely works this way.
But there is no excuse for this, because it only requires a few simple techniques to turn your website into a full time, virtual sales person. In this article, I will explain to you the simplest way to accomplish that.
The first thing your website must do is contain good information and content, that helps you visitor solve their problems. People search websites for two reasons – to get contact information, and to help gather knowledge to make the right purchasing decision.
Most people have not made a decision on who they will buy from when they start their internet search. Usually the website with the most helpful information will win their business.
So it starts with providing helpful information to your visitors. Take my example – I have given you access to a free report on my website, and I’ve written articles to help you out. At the very least, you know I am someone who is knowledgeable about what they do. And hopefully I’ve given you some insight on how to solve your problems.
The second thing you need to do is take proactive measures when someone visits your website, so that you can turn that one time visit into a more meaningful relationship.
Let me ask you a question – do you run specials from time to time? If so, then that’s the perfect offer right there. Here’s what you do. When someone visits your website, do this. Tell them that by filling out a form with their name and email address, they will be notified before the public whenever you’re having a sale or a special.
This means that you can contact them with a click of a button instead of hoping that they contact you. Do you see the power in this?
