The Biggest Trend in Online Marketing, and How Brick & Mortar Businesses Can Capitalize On It!
November 29th, 2009The internet is perhaps the most powerful medium for delivering content, pre-conditioning prospects and customers to buy from you, and for increasing your bottom line… and it’s only going to get better.
That’s why it pays to leverage online marketing, even for offline businesses.
We’re at a very special time right now when most internet surfers have high speed internet access. At the same time, video technology is less expensive then ever, and easier than ever to get on the web.
In the past, the internet was usually a way to broadcast information through the written word. However, due to the above factors, we can now combine the written word with video to form the ultimate online presence.
Check out these stats:
* Just over 73% of the total United States Internet surfers viewed video online during the month of March 2008.
* US Internet users viewed 11.5 billion videos online during March 2008, which is a 13% gain over February 2008 and over 64% gain over 12 months ago.
* 139 Million U.S. Internet users watched an AVERAGE of 83 videos per viewer during the month of March 2008.
* Almost 85 million viewers (84.8 to be exact) watched 4.3 billion videos on YouTube, alone!
Do you have video on your website? You should. Are you uploading videos so people can find you on YouTube (one of the most used search engines in the world)? You should.
The reason why most people don’t use video on their website is simple – they make it out to be harder than it really is.
To use video appropriately, you have to understand what your visitors want. More than anything, they want good content, and want to know they are dealing with someone who is honest, has integrity, and cares about helping them.
They really don’t care if you video is shot with state of the art technology, or that you’re lighting is perfect. They don’t care if you use fancy editing, cool transition animation or any of that stuff.
Oftentimes I have found that simple is best. If you’re too slick, that causes them to trust you less. Usually, the best option is to get a cheap camera, and just record a personal message. Point, shoot and go!
